Philadelphia Cathedral is pleased to announce that Kyle Evans will be the guest preacher during the 10 AM Eucharist on Sunday, September 19th.

A lifelong Episcopalian who grew up in the Washington DC area, Kyle has been a member of the Diocese of Pennsylvania and Trinity Church, Solebury for the past 18 years.

In January 2008, Kyle concluded 10 years of service as Trinity’s Director of Youth & Children’s Ministries. Her work with the children and youth of Trinity has been recognized as being integral to the establishment of local and international outreach as core elements to shared ministry, most notably through Mission Philadelphia, well known in the Diocese for being a model outreach program for youth and young adults in inner city Philadelphia.

Since 2005, Kyle has also demonstrated strong international community development involvement in health and education in the Kitale Diocese of Kenya through Mwamba Church Ministries International, an organization founded by Emmanuel Chemengich, former Assistant Rector of the African Episcopal Church of St. Thomas, Philadelphia and Tabasamu, a dental ministry in the same region initiated by a Trinity parishioner.

The culmination of Kyle’s growing commitment to international community based outreach was her year of service as a Missioner in Haiti, November ’08-November ‘09. Her work included teaching English as a Second Language to the seminarians and staff of Seminaire de Theologie as well as he priests of the Diocese of Haiti, training of Church School teachers and Youth leaders, reforestation and health related projects and significant grant writing. During her leave in July ’08 and upon her return to the states, Kyle has shared her experience with parishes of the Diocese of Pennsylvania and other Episcopal Churches in the East and Kenya.

Though Kyle has certainly received loving assistance from many, she particularly values the strength and spirit that she has gained from her family- Eric, her husband of 29 years, and her three sons, Steven-26; Christopher-24; and Peter 21. They have understood her call and encouraged her throughout her life’s work.
