LECTIO DIVINA LENTEN SERIES
Last Sunday, Philadelphia Cathedral began a Lenten Series modeled after contemplative practice of Lectio Divina.

“Happy are they whose transgressions are forgiven, and whose sin is put away.”
With those words from Psalm 32, we began the first Sunday Lenten forum, gathered around a table, eating our traditional meal of soup and bread.
For all who attended, it was a special time of drawing closer to one another and sharing a prayer experience that will deepen our Lenten journey in the days to come.
Dean Casson led the group in the ancient prayer practice called Lectio Divina, which essentially means reading the word of God and listening to what it says to you. The prayer begins by slowly reading and re-reading a short passage of scripture, looking for a word or phrase that catches your attention, then moving into prayerful meditation, listening for how it is speaking to you.
This prayer is intended to promote communication with God and increase your understanding of how He speaks to you through the scriptures.
Since this beginning on Sunday, I have set aside time each day to continue practicing this prayer and have found it to be a rich and rewarding experience.
All are welcome to join us as we continue the forum this coming Sunday and the following two Sundays. All are invited to share and journey with us during this holy Season of Lent.
