The cathedral functions in many ways to achieve its truly multi-faceted mission to all people without any distinction or exception. A tour of this website will provide you with information and help prepare you for your next visit—in person—to Philadelphia Cathedral.

Now, enter and enjoy the views, stories and sounds that emerge from this beautiful, sacred space—only recently renovated—and dedicated to the purpose of drawing the heart of anyone who steps inside nearer to the love and glory of God through the pull of its interior architectural beauty, and by way of its powerfully inspiring, yet relevant worship and continual prayer.

You will encounter here some of the many hundreds of Episcopalians who gather at their cathedral to worship, mark special occasions and counsel together in convention for the common life and mission of the Diocese of Pennsylvania.

As you view our website, you will come to see that the core of Philadelphia Cathedral’s life is a vibrant worshipping community. Experience some of our congregation’s journey together in love and deep friendship, enjoying one another even as we search for God and strive to live out the meaning of our faith through dynamic, refreshing worship, scriptural study and spiritual formation, community service, hospitality and yes, lots of fun.

Every seeker after God is welcomed here of whatever age, race, gender or orientation, whether previously of any other Christian denomination, other faith tradition, spiritual path or none, and all are invited—without exception—to our Table.

You will notice also that the cathedral serves as a center for spiritual and intellectual illumination and transformation through study, programs, conferences and other events touching the issues of personal and family life, church and society.

Views and sounds here will provide you with a glimpse of the cathedral as a performance space for great music of all genres featuring our own and guest musicians, and as a venue for dramatic presentations and exhibitions of the creative and unusually beautiful work of gifted visual artists—all for the glory of God, the celebration of God’s magnificent creation, the wonderful diversity of human expression, and the power of the indomitable human spirit.

You will discover that Philadelphia Cathedral is a place of connection and reunion where people of all cultural backgrounds and practitioners of other faith traditions meet, dine and oftentimes pray together, sharing stories, reconciling differences and celebrating our common humanity under God.

You will experience the cathedral as a point of action and service in our surrounding neighborhoods, working together with other institutions and agencies to help address all sorts of community needs, and for addressing issues of justice and peace in our region and around the world.

And of course, there are directions for getting to the cathedral, schedules of worship times and all the other activities, ways of becoming affiliated to the cathedral, making financial contributions for its mission, and more…

So, do enjoy your initial journey through our new Web site, and stay in touch with it as construction continues. Meanwhile, you are cordially invited many times over to visit and worship at Philadelphia Cathedral, enjoy a concert or art exhibition, attend any of our many events or take a tour. When you do, you will become part of the exciting spiritual energy that awaits all who enter through the doors of Philadelphia Cathedral.

Peace,
