On this day we call to mind that the Saints are not merely the imposing images found in stained glass windows, or seemingly distant and long departed men and women introduced to us in our childhood.
The Saints we celebrate on this feast were grandparents; mothers and fathers; sisters and brothers; coming from both the religious and the laity. They were ordinary people made extraordinary by living their lives rooted in a profound faith and deep love of God. At this liturgy, we will also remember loved ones who died during this past year during the Prayers of the People.
