At the Cathedral the whole assembly is the ‘choir’ and for this reason
there is no distinction made between ‘choir’ and ‘congregation’. Those
with special musical gifts are encouraged to help the assembly to make music to God more
effectively and beautifully.
The Cathedral Singers support and enrich the Sunday Liturgy, and
frequently serve as cantors for Diocesan events and other worship
services.
The Cathedral Singers’ repertoire is broad, ranging from Anglican chant
to traditional hymnody and psalmody to the music of contemporary
composers.
Membership in the Cathedral Singers is by audition. Pre-requisites are some ability to read music, a pleasing voice, and a
strong commitment to the schedule of rehearsals and services. Rehearsals are on Friday evening and on Sunday after the 10:00 a.m. service.
The Lord is my strength and my song; and has become my salvation. Exodus 15:1
It is good to praise the Lord and make music to your name, O Most High. Psalm 92:1
