Art Exhibition "Misterios" The
University of the Arts: May 13 through May 24
Misterios,
61 ceramic, stone, wood, metal, glass and fiber craftworks by students from The
University of the Arts (UArts) inspired by centuries old Colonial Latin
American artifacts. Urns and brooches, cabinetry and chalices, altars and chest
of drawers exploring themes of reconciliation, divinity, life and death,

"Shadow and Light," Organ Music of
the 20th Century
Organ Concert, Robert Bates,
Professor of Organ at University
of Houston
This concert, in celebration of the 100th anniversary of Austin
Organ and 5th anniversary of the Cathedral renovation, will be held on Sunday,
May 13 at 6:30 PM. The program includes works by Arvo Pärt, Jehan Alain, Robert
Bates, Joan Tower, Olivier Messiaen, Jean Guillou
and Naji Hakim. Dr. Bates is an internationally acclaimed recording and
performing artist, musicologist and composer. This will be his first solo
performance in Philadelphia.

The STGC represents the First African American
Episcopal congregation in the United
States dating back to 1792. Their unique styles,
sounds and powerful ministry have led them to minister in numerous churches,
halls, and even synagogues, along the East Coast and as far as Costa Rica. Waltier Blocker has been the musical and
spiritual director since the choir began in 1991. The program includes, A Praying Spirit, God Is

international songs from Europe, Asia, Central America and Africa, including

will also present a European Requiem including movements by Verdi, Mozart and
Lloyd Webber. Additionally, they will
continue our tradition of preserving American music by performing some American
classics, including a spectacular new Richard Rodgers medley featuring My Funny
Valentine, The Sound of Music, It's a Grand Night for Singing ...and much, much
