WELCOMING INTERIM DEAN AND A SPECIAL SERVICE: Sunday, June 29 at 10am
We are delighted to have Bishop Allen Bartlett serve as the Presider for today’s Liturgy as we welcome Canon Lloyd Casson as Interim Dean of Philadelphia Cathedral with
a service of Institution and Induction. Please join us in greeting Bishop Bartlett and Canon Casson during the coffee hour immediately following the Liturgy.
YOU ARE CORDIALLY INVITED: To the Festival Eucharist at the Philadelphia Cathedral this which will open the 40th Anniversary Annual Meeting and Conference of the National Union of Black Episcopalians. The Rt. Reverend Allen Bartlett will be the Celebrant and The Rt. Reverend Nathan Baxter will be the Preacher. A musical tribute, honoring Dr. Horace Boyer, editor of the ECUSA, “Lift Every Voice and Sing” hymnal, will begin at 7:30 p.m. This will be followed by the Eucharist at 8:00 p.m. A wide variety and repertoire will be prepared with special guest conductor Dr. Carl Maultsby. The choir will be accompanied and prepared by Dr. Jay Fluellen.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS: The 2008 Noontime Philadelphia Cathedral Noontime Organ Concert Series will begin on Wednesday July 9 at 12:30 p.m. with Riyehee Hong performing the
Widor Organ Symphonie No. V. in F minor, Op. 42 No. 1. These free concerts, featuring organists from Philadelphia, New York, London and New Zealand, will be held at 12:30 p.m. each Wednesday through August 27. Please bring a friend, bring your lunch and enjoy the music in our beautiful air-conditioned sanctuary. A flyer is available in the narthex listing each organist and his/her program for the concert series.
