A Message from the PTI Board Chair,

Dear Friends,
I encourage you to become part of the Philadelphia Theological Institute. For more than 25 years PTI has brought the brightest and best scholars, theologians and authors to the Diocese of Pennsylvania. The fall program described in this brochure promises to be more exciting than ever.
I would like to tell you that all is well with PTI, and truthfully, we have some fine things planned, but honestly, we have two program offerings only by the grace of God, and the hard work of our Executive Director.
Unfortunately, PTI has suffered a great loss in our funding sources. It is a terribly frustrating turn of events. PTI has for years faithfully attended to our mandate to provide quality Theological Education for folks in the Metropolitan Philadelphia region, as outlined by the stipulations in the St. Andrew’s Funds. It is what brought PTI into being. These are the funds that allowed us to bring headliners like Marcus Borg, Dominic Crossan, Esther DeWaal, Madeline L’Engle, Jack Miles, N.T. Wright, Luke Timothy Johnson, and so many others to our area
Our Board is working to find a way forward, but we need your help. In order to bring in some of the names we are talking with (Barbara Brown Taylor, Anne Lamott, and Fred Craddock), we simply must have the resources to pay their expenses, and then cover their honoraria.
When you consider becoming an Associate for 2007-08 you will receive either reduced fees or free admission. Parish Membership offers these benefits as well. If you are in need of continuing education events you can consider these worthy. Finally you will have the satisfaction of knowing that you helped bring stellar thinkers to Pennsylvania.
