The Rev. Asha George-Guiser

Born to a south Indian family in Kuwait, The Rev. Asha George-Guiser was formed by her Syrian Orthodox faith which traces its roots back to Saint Thomas’s work in Kerala, south India. Asha was baptized in her parish church built in 700 A. D. From Kuwait to Kerala, she spent her adolescent years in India attending Saint Ann’s Franciscan Preparatory School. Asha was trained as an Indian classical dancer and performed nationally. Her favorite Tagore quote is: “Let your life dance on the edges of time like dew on the tip of a leaf”.

In 1973, The Rev. George-Guiser immigrated to the United States on a college scholarship to Neumann University. Graduated as a Pre- Med major, Asha was called to ministry through years of inner-city summer camp work in Camden, NJ. Ordained in 1982, she received her Master of Divinity from The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia and her Doctor of Ministry from Eastern University. Asha was first Asian woman to be ordained in the Lutheran World Federation. Following ordination, she served three parishes and was called to serve the presiding bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America in the Division for Ministry. Her doctoral studies are in in Marriage and Family therapy. Since 2003, she has served Christ in her private practice in Blue Bell, PA, integrating spirituality and psychology in cross-cultural settings.

The Rev. George-Geiser is married to the Rev. Kim D. Guiser. She is the joyful mother of a daughter, Preeya. Presently, she is serving with Kim Guiser at St Mark’s Episcopal Church, Honey Brook, PA.
