The Rev. Ernest Curtin
Father Ernie Curtin has been the rector of St. Luke’s, Newtown for ten years. He has been active in the Episcopal Society of Mary and is a priest associate of the Sisters of the Holy Nativity.
He was born in Trenton, NJ and baptized and confirmed at St. Matthias Episcopal Church. He is a cradle Episcopalian. Starting when he was ten years old, his parents moved every two years for his father’s job with the military and the Treasury Department. This included a two-year assignment in the Republic of Panama. He served as an acolyte at L’Iglesia San Marcos en La Ciudad de Panama. Habla un poquito de español pero no muy bien.
His undergraduate degree is from the College of William and Mary in Latin American Colonial Church History. He has a Master’s in Education from The College of NJ. His seminary training is from Virginia Theological. Bp. Keith Ackerman ordained him to the diaconate. Bp. Charles Bennison ordained him as a priest at the Philadelphia Cathedral.
He worked as a corporate paralegal for many years before he was ordained. Most of his ministry (lay and ordained) has focused on Youth Ministry and Pastoral Care of the Elderly.
