Can We Still Hope for a Solution to Climate Change?
Sunday, February 9

11:45 am – 1:00 pm
Location: Liem Azar Cathedral Center
Facilitators: Claudia & Guy Aiken

We will watch the first 35 minutes of a Politics & Prose interview with Naomi Klein about her book On Fire: The (Burning) Case for a Green New Deal. We’ll discuss how we feel in the face of imminent, radical climate change (does it paralyze us, or catalyze us?), and what role our faith plays, or could play, in this response.
To learn more about the book please click here.
Click here to obtain a Kindle copy or audio version of the book: Hard copies are available at new and used bookstores in Philadelphia.
Relevant materials from "On Fire" will be available electronically by request and in paper form for those who prefer that format. Please send your request to dtomko@philadelphiacathedral.org

“What Kind of People Do We Want to Be?”
Sunday, February 16

11:45 am – 1:00 pm
Location: Liem Azar Cathedral Center
We will continue our discussion of Klein’s book, reading together selections from chapters including “A Radical Vatican” and “Stop Trying to Save the World All by Yourself.” We will talk about the role that Christianity may have played in the first New Deal, and then turn to one of Naomi Klein’s most pressing questions: what kind of people do we want to be in a world that is being irrevocably changed by global warming?

Spiritual Ecology with Rev. Alison Cornish

Location: Liem Azar Cathedral Center
Rev. Alison Cornish, Director of Pennsylvania Interfaith Power and Light, will have a conversation with us about what the Bible teaches about the environment, and how we—as a church and as faithful people—can engage with climate change in a spiritual way.
